Achieving the Impossible

Pondered by Nat about half a year ago

I don’t care if this blog officially becomes about situps instead of business (and other life rants).

Last night, I achieved the impossible.

I did a full sit up. From the ground, all the way up.

Never in my life have I been able to do this. I had even convinced Zach the personal trainer that I have a back disfigurement that made situps an impossibility. I had totally given up hope. Then it just happened. Easily.

I went out and danced until 1am (I know, it was a Wednesday) but the best part, is I woke up STILL feeling great. Doing something you honestly never thought you could do is an incredible feeling. I am not sure if I have ever before honestly believed I couldn’t do something and then did it.

I know it’s just a situp. But it’s also a triumph of hard work over disbelief. It’s made the sweat and constant pain totally worth it. I don’t even care that I have only lost 1.3% body fat, my ABS WORK.

It’s made me think a little more about all the other exercise stuff i “cant do” (re: marathons, pushups…) and whether maybe they are just other mind blocks to get over.

This open a whole new world of possibilities!

Hey Natty! Thats’s fABstastic! Man, you’re gonna be one mad working machine when I get home.

Well done I am so proud of you. The elusive full sit-up is the one thing that still seems to be beyond my grasp (that and cartwheels). I have told my trainer that I am quite convinced I am missing a key part of the abdominal group, she thinks I have a back problem but you have given me a renewed sense of vigour, I am going to keep on pushing. Thanks Nat

YES! I think the key is to STOP thinking about it and do all sorts of other stuff and then, as if by magic, one day, you just DO IT.

And Jess, you have arms of steel. That is some advanced muscle groups right there and they are my next goal :)
