I wanted to write about dolphins…
And I just deleted my rant to do it. (Apparently just writing my rant calmed me down.)
I SWAM WITH 200 DOLPHINS. I don’t know how I could compare it to anything else EVER.
We swam (or blobbed on the surface) surrounded by an infestation of dolphins. Their favorite game is two of them rushing at you from the depths, only at the last second (seriously 30 cms away) to part and go either side of you.
They also like getting eye contact and swimming around you.
One thing I LOVE is that to us it was chaos, dolphins everywhere, above, below and SO CLOSE, but I think they work at a different speed, because they got a lot closer to each other than us.
Afterward, while Kylie was sitting at the back of the boat looking dangerously pale, Nadine and I were up the front, recreating Titanic and snapping shots of dolphins like their was no tomorrow.
It was also the BEST TRIP EVER. We were like lucky leprechauns, everything we wanted, went our way, from our massive, awesome free hire car, to the free stuff we got from the nice stewards on Air NZ, to the charades in a Christchurch bar, Nadine’s ‘shortcuts’ across the windiest roads ever…
Ahh well, in hindsight it well and truly made up for the nightmare this day has been and the week is shaping up to be :)
