Killing Chickens

Pondered by Nat 10 months ago

From my sisters blog:

“Noa and I have had many discussions about food. One main one has been about eggs. Noas a vegetarian you see, but lately has started to eat eggs to make sure shes eating protein etc. She was a bit upset about the whole ‘chicken abortion thing’, and I have explained that it really isn’t the case as the eggs aren’t fertalised. In reality it’s better than using feathers even as the bird doesn’t die to lay eggs. Anyway…. I was eating Lau the other day (a Hot Pot thing where you cook your own food) and Noa happened to be there and they gave me two eggs - something that I don’t normally get. Of course I heartily threw them in and waited for them to cook. Little did I know. Lets just say - not all eggs are unfertilised. I’ve just discovered a whole new level of disgusting things people eat. Yuck yuck yuck.”

At first glance i find that kinda funny, but ive seen it also. its actually really disturbing to think about because of all the omelets ive eaten. not to mention my dad thought he was a farmer when i was younger and we had chickens.

good luck with the eggs, and ive only seen it once in my life and im almost 30 so its a good bet that it’ll only happen one more time.

Hey Brin! I’m trying to be MORE vegetarian too! - being unable to fully commit to anything :) I no longer buy meat at the supermarket (I do at restaurants) but I do eat eggs. I’ve got no real concerns about them aside from refusing to eat caged hen eggs, but it makes you wonder!
