I wrote a while ago about online networking that doesn't suck. I must admit I was a tad sceptical of the real benefits and wasn't 100% happy to receive an invitation through existing networks to OpenBC. Now, I can strongly say, joining OpenBC is one of the best moves I've made this year. Not only is the community vibrant and active (I received heaps of contact invivations in the first day as well as a warm welcome from a random networker), the contacts you make a relevent, valuable and globally spread.

As a result of our two week activity on OpenBC, we're excited to be plotting some form of ongoing partnership with Leah Maclean of Working Solo in Sydney, have joined the 'Wellington Group' who meet regularly and have rummaged up about 3 or 4 really interesting leads.

For small businesses like us who don't really expect to ever have customers in their local vicinity, the ability to gather them purely from online communication is extremely exciting, as is the ease of forming solid business relationships with like minded people all over the world.
