Small Business Skype

Pondered by Nat quite a long while ago…

SkypeWe are big users of skype. The biggest current benefits are our much less scary phone bills and the ability for customers to call us any time on Skype for free, and be forwarded to our mobiles or landline when we’re on the move. This really helps when you are based far away from your customers and are competing with companies in their local areas.

It looks like Skype is also paying attention to it’s competition and is looking to expand it’s market… into small business services.

"Skype will now offer small business low-cost services that are tailor-fit for the specific needs of business-level usage. The service, to be called Skype for Business, is aimed at small enterprises that have fewer than ten employees. Begun last March 9, Skype for Business will now include a new web site called skype.biz along with coterie of new features and hardware." – The Common Sense Investor

If you use Skype for business, check out their productivity tools page, and the blog they have set up to ‘highlight new cool tools for Skype’s business users’ (don’t rush to the blog, it’s only got one entry so far :))  Also, get yourself on the world’s largest Skype business directory.

Skype really is a great service for small business people. If you’re a member of the Biznik business network you can now add Skype to your profile, so that members can Skype each other from within their profiles. http://www.biznik.com
