Do you KNOW how much people HATE bikes here? ha ha as much as they love them, as soon as they set foot in their cars, they HATE them.

Recently there was a call for bikers to be able to use bus lanes (To keep them a little safer from traffic) This was shot down, and the next day, when taxi drivers asked for the same thing, it was considered.

I think many of us (especially Claire) would love to see the day that Wellington becomes a partly no car zone- Our central city area is made for it.

If we had cycle taxis, busses and bikes even in the central part from Lambton to the end of Courtney Place, it would change a lot of lives and make our city a lot more quirky and enjoyable. Sadly, I think that is a long way off.

Good stuff. Interesting and a little provocative! Keep going. Set a time each day and just 'log' what you are thinking about when the buzzer goes off - as long as it's not too salacious!

As for Amsterdam. Well, the city was made for bikes in the first place. Old cities almost all were. (OK then, horses, but they're about the same width!). How about we close the Wellington CBD to all but bicycle and bus traffic between 8 am and 6 pm! That would make life interesting! (NB ALL deliveries between 6pm and 8 am no exceptions!)

Its great to hear that people are starting to demand this. I'm living in Amsterdam ATM, and I can honestly say that the dedicated bike lanes are the best thing EVER. Everyone in Amsterdam is on bikes, and it is such a clean city because of it.
